Contego Prep & Procedure is a professional-use ‘In-Clinic’ hypochlorous product for skin cleansing prior to treatment.

Contego Mouthwash is available in two formats, one being for professional ‘In-Clinic’ dental and orthodontic cleansing procedures,  and the other as a routine animal Mouthwash for use by owners on their animals.

Aftercare Products

Contego Professional,  Contego  Companion and Contego Equine, use the same hypochlorous chemistry  as Contego Prep & Procedure.   Applied via trigger spray, these ‘Aftercare’ products are used following treatment, by the owners on their animals, to keep their animals skin clean and hygienic to allow for a fast and full skin recovery.

ProfessionalCompanion and Equine, are ‘take home’ products for use by the animals’ owner once they have left the clinic.  The finely atomising spray head enables clients to maintain high levels of hygiene over a treated area, without touching the skin.

Prior to using Contego products, ensure the skin is clean and free from all contaminants.

Contego Prep & Procedure is intended for use by a vetinary clinician before, during and after all procedures to cleanse the skin and to ensure aseptic conditions are maintained. It should be applied either by spray, or by soaking a pad or gauze and wiping onto the skin. The whole area to be treated should be thoroughly wetted with Contego Procedure. Because Contego causes no irritation, it can be re-applied during and after the procedure to maintain high levels of hygiene throughout.

Contego Mouthwash is for use by veterinary clinicians and animal owners.  Contego mouthwash is applied by trigger spray directly onto the area to be treated, three times a day.

Contego Professional, Contego Equine and Contego Companion should be used on the animal following all procedures that have caused damage to the dermis. It should be applied two to three times a day, until the treated area has completely recovered. It can be applied by spraying on directly or by soaking a pad or gauze and wiping onto the skin.

The active ingredient in Contego is sodium hypochlorite. A patent pending chemical process is used to trigger a chemical reaction which converts the hypochlorite into an ultra-pure, stabilised hypochlorous solution. In fact, Contego  has been proven to contain more than 90% pure hypochlorous – far exceeding the purity of any competitor product claiming to contain hypochlorous.

Hypochlorous is the same chemistry that powers the human immune system. It is produced by the white blood cells in the body to combat infection and is widely acknowledged as the most effective disinfection agent known, owing to its ability to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores.

Contego is so effective because of the purity of the hypochlorous content. Despite its efficacy, hypochlorous is not absorbed by animal skin cells. It has a skin neutral pH and contains no alcohol, petroleum, lanolin, oils or parabens. It is non-toxic and non-irritant to animal skin and is even non-cytotoxic to animal skin cells.

Most cleansers intended for use on skin, are weak poisons.  Whilst they can be effective at killing some pathogens, they also affect healthy skin cells and inhibit skin regeneration. Contego is different in that it uses an oxidising method of action which causes no harm to animal skin, even to re-growing skin cells.

Contego has several in use benefits: In clinic, its primary purpose is to give highly effective cleaning and provide antimicrobial protection, (both to patient and clinic staff). However, Contego is also highly effective in reducing the appearance of redness and swelling, and provides a cooling sensation to treated skin.

When used following a procedure as an aftercare, Contego keeps treated areas clean and unencumbered from the contamination that inhibits skin health, resulting in high quality and rapid skin recovery.

Contego products are very safe to use and have been proven non-toxic, non-mutagenic, non-irritant to skin and non-irritant to eyes. Follow the instructions for usage on the bottle and keep out of the reach of children.

No. Contego has been subjected to comprehensive dermatological testing and has been found to cause no contraindications.

Phosphoric acid is used in the manufacturing process to form the hypochlorous in Contego. This process produces a pH that matches that of animal skin and which is far less acidic than most carbonated soft drinks.

Contego should be stored out of the reach of children and away from direct sunlight. If you wish to enhance its cooling sensation it can be kept in the fridge if desire

Contego is safe for drain disposal.

All Contego bottles are fully re-cyclable, so please do ensure they are re-cycled responsibly.

Contego is made in the UK in a dedicated ISO 13485 Medical Device facility. This facility is also accredited with ISO 9001.
